Victoria Strachan – President (2014-2016) Victoria has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Melbourne and has worked in corporate and investment banking, the legal and health industries and advising small business start-ups. She was the District Co-ordinator for regional arts event M~M2014 and most recently Festival Co-ordinator for 2015 Barwon Heads Festival of the Sea. Victoria has recently founded not-for-profit creative education organisation, Steam Hub . Victoria is also the Secretary for the 2015 Barwon Heads Festival of the Sea. She lives with her two daughters, her dog and bunny in Barwon Heads.
Sophia Legoe – Vice President (2014-2016). Sophia has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the Victorian College of the Arts, majoring in ceramics and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide in Japanese and Anthropology. Sophia has held numerous exhibitions of her work in Victoria and South Australia. She lives in Barwon Heads with her husband and three children.
Caroline Woods – Treasurer (2014-2016).
Jan O’Sullivan – Minute Secretary (2014-2016).
Karen Shirley – Membership Secretary (2014-2016) Karen is a Project Manager with over thirty years experience with the Australian Federal Police. Since retirement two years ago, Karen has been concentrating on developing her art practice in abstract paintings, with her first exhibition in early 2013. Karen is passionate about building community and lives in Ocean Grove with her husband.
Diana Allen – Committee Member (2014-2016). Diana has been the Principal of Jazz Australia, based in Melbourne, since she founded that organisation thirty years ago. She has presented hundreds of jazz events including for The City of Melbourne, Government House and jazz festivals around Australia. Prior to establishing Jazz Australia, Diana was a founding member of the Corangamite Branch of Arts Victoria and is an honorary Life Member. This organisation continues to thrive in Western Victoria. Diana has recently semi-retired to Point Lonsdale.
Christine Croyden – Committee Member (2013-2016). Christine is a Melbourne-based playwright and the director of Melbourne Writers’ Theatre. Her plays have been staged in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, and most recently off Broadway in New York. Christine is a part-time resident of Barwon Heads and with the assistance of the Barwon Heads Arts Council, has started the Barwon Heads Theatre Group.
Karen McGlynn – Committee Member.(2013-2016) Kaz is an Art Educator and runs Kazworks art’sKool at Studio One in Barwon Heads. She teaches throughout the Bellarine Peninisula. She is also Arts Project Co-ordinator at Art Access in Melbourne. Her passion is bringing art to the community. Kaz has a background in Industrial Design, screenprinting, weaving, ceramics and teaching at TAFE and Deakin University. Kaz will represent Barwon Heads Arts Council on the committee for the 2015 BH Festival of the Sea. Kaz lives in Barwon Heads.
Alister Urquhart BA LLB FAICD – Committee Member (2013-2016). Alister is a non-practising lawyer who established public affairs firm, Affairs of the State twenty years ago and facilitates business working with government. He is also the Founding Chair of large disability and employment non profit Wise Employment. Alister is also a renowned musician and is a passionate advocate that all children, regardless of their financial circumstances, should have access to music education in order to live a full life. Alister lives in Melbourne and has a holiday house in Barwon Heads.
Suzanne Brown – Committee Member (2016) – Suzanne is a clinical neuropsychologist with 20 years experience in the not-for-profit sector. Suzanne has experience in governance, having developed a number of services, and been responsible for service management, business planning, finance and human resources. She has served on various committees and advisory panels in Victoria. She is also a professional artist.
Dorothy Johnston – Committee Member (2016) – Dorothy Johnston is an established author. Dorothy recently launched her tenth novel, Through a Camel’s Eye.
